TRailblazers CAMPs

For more than 65 years Camp Whitman has been providing week-long overnight camp experience for youth along the shores of Seneca Lake. Our programs and services have shifted and expanded over these years, but the essence of the camp experience is very much the same.

We know that children (more than ever) need the space and time to play, explore and connect in nature. Our carefully selected and well-trained camp counselors help guide campers through the experience of being away from home, learning independence skills, making good choices, building relationships with one another and deepening their understanding and connection with God.

Our children in today’s world are highly stimulated by technology, over-scheduled and feeling the stresses of the world around them. They need this time to step away from the stress, the pressure, the blue lights of iPhones, iPads and computers. They need to run and play; to dance and sing; to try something new and to possibly fail and try again. These are among the many gifts that camp is uniquely positioned to provide.

Trailblazer Programs for Youth at Camp Whitman

  • 2 Night Mini-Camp for children 6 to 11 years old who just want to “try it out”.

  • 1 Week camps for children 8 to 17 years old.

  • 2 Week Counselor in Training program for youth 17 years old seeking leadership skills and training to become a camp counselor.

Our “Trailblazers” are our school-aged campers between the ages of 6 and 17 and each age-group is represented by a different “Family Group”:

  • TB Pioneers (ages 6-8 or grades 1-3)

  • TB Adventurers (ages 8-11 or grades 3-5)

  • TB Explorers (ages 11-13 or grades 6-8)

  • TB Voyagers (ages 14-17 or grades 9-12)

Our programs are designed to provide progression from summer to summer.  Certain activities are only available to particular age groups, and other activities are modified to match the developmental needs of each age or ability level.

In all our activities, safety is foremost.  All pool and lakefront activities are supervised by trained lifeguards, and all land based activities are supervised and led by trained counselors.
